Grand Procession Marks Arrival of Sacred Idols from Tirupati in Khandwa

A wave of devotion swept through Shri Divya Balaji Nagar in Chhegaon Makhan as sacred idols brought from Tirupati were accorded a magnificent welcome. The arrival was marked by a grand Shobhayatra (procession) and elaborate Vedic rituals, signaling a new chapter for religious tourism in the district.

The Sacred Arrival

The idols, crafted and gifted by the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD), include:

  • Lord Shri Tirupati Balaji and Goddess Lakshmi
  • Goddess Padmavati and the Dashavatars
  • Lord Ganesha, Hanuman, and Garuda
  • Jay-Vijay, Chand-Prachand, and the Bali Peeth

These idols are set to be enshrined at the Divya Balaji Temple (within Divya Balaji Nagar) and the Padmavati Temple (within Padmavati Dham Colony).

Rituals and Ceremonies

The idols, which will eventually reside in the sanctum sanctorum of the massive 81-foot-high Tirupati Balaji Temple currently under construction, underwent traditional purification rites.

  • Ceremonies: Vedic chanting, Snan (holy bath), Dugdh-abhishek (milk offering), and Jal-abhishek.
  • Officiants: The rituals were conducted by a panel of esteemed scholars, including Acharya Pandit Amit Dadhich and Acharya Pandit Praveen Atre.

A Star-Studded Devotional Gathering

The procession was a spectacle of drums, crackers, and chants, attended by several prominent dignitaries:

  • Hon. Minister: Vijay Shah
  • Member of Parliament: Gyaneshwar Patil
  • Local Leadership: District Panchayat President Pinky Wankhede, Mayor Amrita Yadav, and former Mayors Bhavna Shah and Anima Obeja.

Vision for the Future

Ritesh Goyal, Founder of the Balaji Group, emphasized that the project aims to establish Khandwa as a key destination for religious tourism.

“The idols have currently been placed safely within the temple premises for the Annadhivas ritual. We will soon announce the auspicious date for the formal Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony,” said Goyal, expressing gratitude to all devotees and collaborators.
